Are You Over 50 and Have Zero Energy?

June 30, 2016 By Corey B

When you are aging, especially when you turn 50, it is quite natural that you develop a lackluster attitude towards everything. No matter how much sleep you get, you are always tired all the time. The aging process will slow you down. It is normal. But, if you are experiencing extreme fatigue, the story may be different. Further, if you are experiencing conditions such as mood swing, snoring, and muscle disappearance along with your chronic fatigue- your excuse could be low testosterone.

Testosterone

The relation between aging-related extreme fatigue and low testosterone may be a controversial subject in the medical field. But, a reducing testosterone level is increasingly being considered among the medical community as a key factor of men’s health. Recent research findings support this argument. It reveals that low levels may increase the risk of death in men aged over 50.

Now, you may wonder what exactly testosterone is? It is one of the main hormones in males. It makes men manly’ and it stimulates the sex drive. The medical terminology of testosterone is Androgen.

Age is always a risk factor. Low testosterone level is generally referred to as male menopause. The need for more energy is evidence of vitality. There are many ways to boost your energy levels and improve your overall health.

  • Stay Active

Regular exercise can improve your strength and increase your confidence. It doesn’t mean that you have to hit your nearby gym every day! But, 30 minutes of normal exercise daily is enough to make a positive difference. Activities like playing with your grandkids, walking, dancing and gardening will help you to make your life active. Start slowly with a brief 10 to 15 minutes exercise sessions every day.

  • Sleep

The risk of insomnia increases as you age or you are spending very less time in deep sleep. Getting a good sleep is crucial in maintaining a healthy energy level during the day. Ideally, you must follow a lifestyle with a less busy schedule and limit your daily responsibilities. Keep a well-disciplined sleeping behaviour, i.e. go to bed at the same time every night and continue it routinely. It may help you to improve quality and quantity of your sleep.

  • Healthy Eating

Eating healthy and nutrient foods always promote better vitality. But if you’re tired and your energy is lacking, you may likely to crave sugary and salty foods which are low in nutrients. Combat this behaviour. Snack on fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, yogurt or hard-boiled eggs. Always remember that your digestive system does slow while you age. So fiber is very important. Fruits vegetables and whole grains contain enough fiber. These will give you more fuel to keep going and help you feel more energetic. If you eat fewer, smaller and higher protein foods, you may enjoy better energy levels..

  • Routine Check-up

People who consistently feel fatigued may develop more health problems and they require hospital stays, home care services, emergency hospitalization and so on. Avoid all these headaches by visiting your doctor routinely. If you turn 50, you may also develop symptoms of arthritis, lung disease, anemia, heart and kidney disorder, and depression. So, routine health check-up is a must after 50.
