How Fish Oil Cares For Your Skin

December 8, 2010 By Darrell Miller

Fish Oil and Your Skin

By using fish oil you add a shine and a glow to dry and flaking skin that you would not have believed possible. Not only that, but fish oil can be used to treat a wide range of skin conditions, some of them inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis, acne and eczema, and others that are caused by dry skin that can be alleviated by the Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil.

The pro-inflammatory components of the immune system that cause psoriasis can be restricted by the arachidonic acid in fish oil. EPA can help to counter the cytokines and other elements of your immune system that cause the inflammation of acne and other inflammatory conditions, and dry skin can be alleviated by the fish oil capsules that can reduce moisture loss from your skin.

EPA and Fish oil

In respect of acne, the EPA in fish oil can inhibit the formation of androgen which causes over-production of sebum in the hair follicles leading to their plugging up and subsequent infection. Omega-3 fatty acids also help to promote shiny hair as well as smooth skin, and help to prevent premature hair loss.  Not only that, but it has the same effects on cats and dogs, so fish oil is also beneficial to your pets!
