A Yale University study of fructose, a simple sugar was found to be formed in the human brain. Fructose is found in many processed foods but is also found in fruits and vegetables. Glucose, another sugar,were previously found to have a different effect on the brain than fructose. Fructose is associated with diabetes and obesity, whIle glucose helps the brain signal fullness. The subjects in the research study were given glucose infusions and it was found that the brain converted the glucose to fructose. The findings will need to be further investigated.
