The murky waters of informed consent is often times not clear to the patient. There are instances in doctor’s offices or clinical trials where patients willingly sign forms without reading the side effects or other pertinent information. They willing trust a doctor inform them of all needed information but sometimes the doctor’s concern is legal and not patient centered. There are simple measures that patients can do to become better informed. The best response from a patient is to ask questions and communicate understanding to the doctor.
