Nutrients and Antioxidants Can Help Control Cataracts

September 20, 2016 By Corey B

Cataracts are among the worst things that you can bear with as you get older. Your lens will no longer be fully clear as clouding sensations will start to develop all around that part of the eye. This will certainly keep your eye from having the proper sight that you need.

Cataracts will be very harmful unless you consider the proper nutrients and antioxidants that will help you get the most out of your eyesight. You may be surprised at what can work.

Critical Nutrients

Many nutrients can help you to stop the development of cataracts:

  • Lutein is a carotenoid that is found in the eye. This helps restore blood flow into the eyes, thus controlling the development of cataracts.
  • Zeaxanthin absorbs dangerous UV rays that your eyes may be exposed to, thus reducing the risk of developing cataracts or making existing ones worse.
  • Beta carotene comes from vitamin A and assists in controlling inflammation around many parts of the eyes. This allows blood to properly flow around all parts of the eyes.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids help with improving blood flow by restricting the production of LDL cholesterol while improving how HDL cholesterol is formed. These may also be converted into EPA or eicosapentaenoic acid. The controls the development of inflammation in the eyes.

How Can Antioxidants Help?

Various antioxidants can also help you get the most out of your eyesight:

  • Vitamin C removes free radicals from the eyes and other parts of your body.
  • Also, Vitamin E encourages the production of healthy cells around the eyes.
  • Vitamin B6 also helps you with improving how red blood cells are formed around the eyes. As this works, the eyes will receive the oxygen and blood support they need.

You will be impressed at how well antioxidants and nutrients can work for your eyes. Make sure you take a closer look at them if you need to improve your eyesight after bearing with cataracts or when aiming to keep them from being a threat.
