Putting Apple Cider Vinegar To Work For You

May 30, 2018 By Darrell Miller

Used for centuries as a renowned natural healing medicine, Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) still has standing in the healing community today. Used by naturopaths and doctors alike, this concoction boasts antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a must-have in your kitchen pantry. Besides being used for healing, it is versatile in cooking and beauty regimes. In what ways can ACV benefit you?

Soothing Sore, Aching Muscles
The anti-inflammatory properties of ACV are well known, but what many people don’t know is that it also contains Potassium, a mineral vital for muscle health. To put this combination of natural ingredients to work for you on your sorest days, pour two cups of ACV into a warm bath and soak for twenty minutes. Alternatively, pour two tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar into a glass of warm water sweetened with honey. With this remedy, you will feel near immediate relief from your muscle ailments.

Combating Dandruff
Dandruff, known to the medical community as “Pityrosporum Ovale” is a fungus that grows on the scalp because of a chemical imbalance in the body. Due to the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents found in ACV, it is an effective way to rid your scalp of dandruff. For mild dandruff, rinse your hair three times per week with equal parts ACV and cool water. For more serious cases, add half a cup of this antibacterial powerhouse into your bottle of shampoo.

Regulating Blood Sugar
Acetic Acid, the primary ingredient in ACV, has been shown to possess important healing properties key to the next items on the list. It is theorized that Acetic Acid slows down the conversion of complex carbohydrates into sugar, which then gives the body more time to process and eliminate existing sugar from the bloodstream. The result is more consistent blood sugar levels and a reduced chance of blood sugar spikes. To take advantage of this, take 1-2 tablespoons of diluted ACV a half hour before meals, and one tablespoon before bed.

Reducing Bug Bites
The natural acidity of ACV and the properties of Acetic Acid can reduce the pain and swelling of insect bites. As soon as possible after a bite occurs, apply a mixture of equal parts water and ACV to it. The acidity will reduce the swelling and pain caused by the bite. This remedy will also aid in the healing process.

Weight Loss
The best known of all Apple Cider Vinegar remedies is weight loss. Though human trials are limited, there is convincing evidence that taking two tablespoons of ACV per day can suppress the appetite and help cut down your daily intake by as much as 275 calories. This is where Acetic Acid comes into play. Likewise to the way Acetic Acid acts in regulating blood sugar, it is shown to slow down the rate at which food is digested, making you feel fuller, longer.
