Egg shells, usually tossed in the trash can be very nutritious. A typical shell contains 2 grams of calcium, it promotes muscle and bone health but is a remedy for stomach issues like heartburn. To avoid any illness from bacteria contamination, eggshells should be boiled and dried then powdered before consumed by sprinkling over foods or added to smoothies. If eggshells aren’t your thing, calcium rich alternatives include dairy and soy products as well as some vegetables including broccoli and cabbage. Some protein packed foods like nuts and fish contain calcium as well.
