The Meals on Wheels program is one of many programs which are being put at risk by proposed federal budget cuts. Meals on Wheels could be impacted by cuts in funding to multiple agencies. Research suggests that the benefits of the program range from positive results regarding nutritional health of program recipients to reduction of issues associated with isolation. While the Trump administration is arguing that there is no evidence that the program is effective, there is concern that eliminating it will have adverse effects. Additionally, there is nothing to suggest that other programs would be able to replace Meals on Wheels for the benefits it is providing to the elderly.
