Top 15 Anti-Inflammatory Foods + Anti-Inflammatory Diet

Most of the major chronic diseases afflicting American society have arbitrary least some connection to out-of-control inflammation that targets and damages healthy organs and tissues. The Standard American Diet tends to contain a lot of processed foods, and tends to be much worse for inflammation than either Mediterranean-style or Paleo diets, both of which are rich in the three essential anti inflammatory ingredients: antioxidant foods, minerals and beneficial fatty acids. Good examples of anti inflammatory foods include a variety of leafy vegetables, broccoli, blueberries, salmon, chia, turmeric, flax seeds, walnuts and ginger.

Key Takeaways:

  • Many diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension and inflammatory bowel disease, have inflammation as a common thread.
  • There are a number of anti-inflammatory foods that can alleviate inflammation in the system, thereby bringing relief to the aforementioned conditions.
  • Some of these health-promoting foods include, beets, bok choy, celery, broccoli, blueberries and pineapple.

“Inflammation as a bodily function is not necessarily a bad thing. When the body is injured or ill, the lymphatic (immune) system springs into action, bringing the immune system’s army of white blood cells to the area of concern via increased blood flow.”
