Importance of sunscreens when outside for long periods

skinSun is an important factor of life. Most people enjoys the sun especially summer vacation due to the chance it offers to have outdoor activities. However, sun can be lethal to your skin especially in prolonged duration of exposure. Sunblock or sunscreens are important lotions that protect your skin from the lethal effects of sunrays.

How the sun affects your skin

Large exposure of the skin to sunlight is dangerous because sun emits ultra violet rays that are harmful to skin cell. The damage of skin cell leads to development of wrinkles. The skin may get discolored and also get bruised easily. Ultra violet rays may cause skin cancer

Importance of sunblock

Sunscreens are important due to their ability to protect the skin from harmful effects of sunrays. Sunblock are useful prevention of skin aging and wrinkle development. It helps in minimizing the chances of getting skin cancer. Sunscreen offers protection by either absorbing or reflecting away sunrays.

Sunscreen is made up of organic and inorganic ingredients. These ingredients includes the oxybenzone. Oxybensone is useful in absorbing ultraviolet rays from the sun. These rays are later absorbed by the body as heat. Another important ingredient is the zinc oxide. Zinc oxide protects the skin by reflecting away the rays from the sun away from the skin. When combined together as a lotion, they become an important part of skin protection. Regular use prevent wrinkles in long-term.

How to avoid the effects of sun

One of the best ways to avoid harmful effects of the sun is to stay under the shade.

It is recommended to wear sunblock every day before going out. Reapply the sunscreen after sweating.

Keep away from middle day’s sun.

Wear protective clothing if you have to be exposed to sun all the day long.

Put on sunglasses to protect the eyes.
