Appealing Herbal Options For Patients With Depression

October 21, 2016 By Corey B

Depression causes negative mood that is often difficult for many people to handle. However, depression does not have to be a serious problem that can impact one’s life for too long. There are plenty of great herbal solutions that can make a difference in your life.

Herbs for Depression

St. John’s Wort

St. John’s wort has been a noteworthy option for managing depression. This herbal treatmenst-johns-wortt assists in controlling the production of serotonin in the brain. This works in a manner similar to many medications and can work quickly and effortlessly. It keeps nerve cells from reabsorbing serotonin and dopamine, thus ensuring that these can function as well as they should in the brain.

St. John’s wort should still be reviewed carefully in terms of how it works. This may cause serotonin levels to increase to a very high total, thus causing some physical reactions. Your body needs to be carefully monitored while using this to ensure that you can actually tolerate this.

Kava Root

Kava root is a choice that may also be effective. This assists in slowing down nerve functions and brain activity. This keeps the brain under control as it will be easier for the brain to produce the necessary chemicals it requires to be healthy and strong.

You should watch to see how well this can help control your depression. It is important to watch for how well your body responds and that you do not become sluggish or easily fatigued while using the kava root.

5-HTP

The third herb to see is 5-HTP, a compound that helps to control problems relating to low serotonin levels. It increases serotonin levels in the brain and makes it easier to function. As this neurotransmitter is increased in the brain, the effects of depression will be less of a concern. This works with fewer side effects but it is a necessity to watch for how this works.
