However, recent scientific research has revealed that cinnamon bark are not only delicious, but have health benefits as well. The health benefits of cinnamon are astonishing, to say the least. The cinnamon bark has its origin in Sri Lanka, although it now cultivated throughout the world. But what are some of the health benefits of cinnamon bark?

It aids in digestion.
This is one of the health benefits that cinnamon is well known for. It is widely known for its outstanding ability to ease digestive ailments, such as vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. Cinnamon barks are effective in warming and strengthening digestive organs. In addition to that, cinnamon is also known to function as a thermostat, a compound known to stop the flow of blood. In this sense, it is believed to aid in stopping bleeding, particularly from the gastrointestinal tract. Some of its therapeutic properties are attributed to the following nutrients: Calcium Manganese Fiber Iron.

Blood sugar regulation.
According to scientific research, cinnamon bark is effective in lowering blood sugar levels. Normally, blood sugar levels always shoot up after every meal, sometimes reaching dangerous levels. The rise can be rapid and pronounced especially if the meal is rich in carbohydrates. This can be problematic to individuals with elevated blood sugar levels. However, a serving of cinnamon bark can put such health problems at bay. According to scientists, adding a serving of cinnamon to a carbohydrate-rich meal can drastically slow down the rate of digestion. In turn, this counters the rise of blood sugar level which normally occurs after every meal.

Antibacterial action.
Cinnamon bark may also aid in fighting infections. When added to food, it inhibits bacterial growth, thereby acting as a natural food preservative. According to scientific research, the oils found in cinnamon are antifungal, antiviral and also fights bacteria. On the same breath, cinnamon is also known to treat other related ailments such as the following:Respiratory and digestive tract infections.Stops the growth of candida. Stops the growth of unwanted microbes in the human body. Prevents cold and flu and other ailments.

Weight control.
Individuals with weight related issues may appreciate the magic properties of cinnamon bark. This is because of its ability to lower blood sugar levels while also combating insulin resistance. Fat cells stored around the abdomen are sensitive to high insulin levels. On the same note, abdominal fat are closely located to the digestive system, which makes them prone to to storing excess glucose. However, cinnamon barks help in lowering blood sugar and insulin levels, thereby aiding in weight loss program.

Arthritis pain relief.
A scientific study revealed that patients who suffer from arthritis pain may get some relief by using a combination of cinnamon powder and honey. It was found that patients who were given one teaspoon of cinnamon and another teaspoon of honey first thing in the morning showed significant improvements in their health. The study found out that such patients could actually walk within a month without experiencing any pain.
