September 9, 2012 By Darrell Miller

Pregnancy and Prenatal Vitamins

You need to keep your body healthy if you are going to become pregnant. A prenatal vitamin should help you out with keeping your body safe during this important time.

Vitamins Prevent Defects

There are many cases where birth defects could occur. For example, your child’s neural tube could be impacted. This can influence the development of the brain and spinal column.

There is also the potential that the blood in your unborn child’s body could be influenced during pregnancy by a poor diet. This could keep your child from receiving blood, thus potentially harming the child’s growth.

The use of prenatal vitamins is important so you can keep birth defects from occurring. You must keep your body under control at all times.

It Helps Your Body

There is also the need for you to make sure that you keep your body healthy. You can end up losing nutrients during your pregnancy. For example:
Your unborn child needs calcium for bone development. You could lose bone density because of this.Iron could also be lost during pregnancy. You might end up becoming tired. You could suffer from serious joint pains during your pregnancy due to all the pressure that comes from this. A vitamin needs to help you out with keeping your body safe.

It Particularly Works Early

It is even easier for you to get the best results when you use a vitamin early in a pregnancy. A prenatal vitamin works best when you are using it early on in your pregnancy. The first trimester is often the part of the pregnancy where your child is more likely to be harmed. A prenatal vitamin can work well when you are getting ready to become pregnant and right as you learn that you are pregnant.

What Good Are the Nutrients For?

The nutrients that you could find in a prenatal vitamin are important to your body. They are all great reasons for why you need to consider such a vitamin.

There are several nutrients that can be found here:

Folic acid is often seen as the most important nutrient for your prenatal vitamin. It supports the proper development of the neural tube.Iron is commonly found in prenatal vitamins because it supports the development of blood in the body. It also supports red blood cells. The baby needs enough red blood cells to prevent anemia from occurring. Vitamin D and calcium are both needed for you and your baby. Your baby’s bones will develop properly and you will be able to regain the bone density that you might lose during your pregnancy.Vitamin C can be used to improve your body’s immune system and even your child’s immune system. Omega-3 fatty acids are not always included in all prenatal vitamins but they should still be used. These fatty acids are capable of supporting the baby’s brain development during pregnancy.

You have to be careful when handling your healthy as you are pregnant. You must make sure that you are using the right nutrients in a prenatal vitamin to keep your body healthy while also keeping the body of your unborn child as healthy as possible.
